Raguza is a pirate port and shelter along the Dan River that runs through Toscana. It is independent and ruled by the Korpal, the central ruling council.

It is clearly based on the real-life city of Ragusa, which used to be an independent republic on the coasts of the Adriatic Sea.

Overview[]

Raguza is the virtually impregnable pirate haven that is located along the Dan River. It is actually a pleasant city with nice, comfortable inns, attractive and clean streets and eating houses featuring cuisine from at least 6 different nations. Furthermore, though many of its visitors are pirates, its inhabitants appear to live fairly honest lives and visitors who take up residence are seemingly immune to the monthly taxes.

Law[]

  • When a ship is going to dock in the city or seeks protection there, its owners have to pay 10% of the cargo (sometimes just trade cargo but mostly loot from plunders) to the Korpal.
  • The Korpaljo (a member of the Korpal) that appears in "The Hunters" is called Mihaly, a firm but fair leader who will not hesitate to protect Raguza.
  • Absolutely no fighting is allowed in Raguza because the Korpaljo knows that if the people were fight, the pirate haven would descend into chaos and it would lose its power and life. If there is any fighting, the fighter will be expelled from Raguza.
  • Interestingly, the Korpal has no power, it simply passes down orders from the Korpaljo. However, the Korpal members have a lot of influence in Raguza. Also, you need to first be a member of the Korpal in order to become Korpaljo.

Trivia[]

  • The pirates of Raguza seem to share a rivalry with the corsairs of the Constant Sea, at least in the case of Myrgos and Vulture, who remains outside the Dan to avoid the Raguzans.
